So stress is a bitch

Worse, she can play havoc with our health leaving us unhappy and unwell.

We know by now she can lead to increased chances of serious illness;

Heart disease/ stroke/ type 2 diabetes/ obesity and possibly cancer...

Oh yes and potentially lead to psychological disorders such as O.C.D, panic attacks and anxiety disorders.

But it’s sometimes hard to take these long term threats too seriously. Because maybe, right now,  feeling rushed off our feet / pressured to get it all done- is the only thing that gives energy to get through the day.

Maybe we know it's bad for our health but right now there seem more important things to think about:

  • A degree to work and pay for
  • A career to carve out
  • A mortgage to save for or pay off 
  • Friends/ Family/ Aging parents/ Boyfriends/Girlfriends/ all needing you to make time for
  • A social life to enjoy 
  • Plans to start a family
  • A wedding to plan

All this talk about stress being "bad for our health" beginning to sounds like one more thing to get stressed about?

Relax! Being over whelmed and pressured today does not mean in the future

  • We will definitely develop a life-threatening  illness.
  • We will definitely develop a serious psychological condition or nervous disorder.
  • We will definitely lose friends, family,  jobs and live out our days with only our unhappy unhealthy selves for company... 

But it's Smart to prioritise our physical and mental health today because it will lay the foundation for a healthy tomorrow.

So let’s not focus on the horrid diseases that the bitch might cause in the future because that is stressing me out!  Lets direct our attention to the negative affects she is having on our well-being and health right now.
